  • Shipping via Ocean Container? 5 Tips to follow.

    Sunday, October 02, 2011 | Eric Rex

Shipping via Ocean ContainerEach vendor will have a selection of Ocean Line Carriers to choose from when shipping via Ocean container. Different lines offer different routes and have different availability depending on season, much like airline schedules.

When you are quoted an ocean rate, it is ALWAYS subject to change no matter who quotes you because between the time you get your quote and the time you give the go-ahead to book space, the cheaper lines that are usually quoted first always fill up first.  Much like airfare. So the key is acting fast and having a very thorough line of communication with your vendor so you know they are looking in to all lines instead of one with which they favor. In addition, if Exhibit Transport is able to book your shipments at a lower rate than quoted, we will pass the savings on to you. Read more...

Many things can go wrong in trade show shipping, the strict timelines these shows have create a very unique challenge to both the exhibitor and the company they hire to ship the goods.  Just-in-time logistics is a concept that has been around for a couple of decades and many manufacturers utilize it to keep a zero inventory and thus a much lower risk level.  Exhibitors might think that since this strategy has been used to a great extent for manufacturing why can't it be just as easy to implement for trade shows? Read more...

  • Denali National Park Alaska

    Monday, July 14, 2008 | Eric Rex

We recently shipped a container from Virgina to Denali National Park in Alaska. This was a particularly interesting undertaking. The shipment had to enter the park after visitor hours at 10 PM for a three hour drive on a winding road. I thought, how creepy is that, driving a small winding road into wilderness at that hour of the night. To my surprise, Alaska has 24 hours of day light this time of the year so the 1 AM delivery was in bright sunlight, weird. I asked the client, did you see any wildlife and he replied, yes, their were grizzly bears roaming the area where you dropped the container. The delivery went as expected and delivered exactly on time. Read more...
